The network service connection agreement (the agreement) is a contract, which means that it's a legally binding document.

The agreement outlines the services that will be provided, the length of time that the agreement will last (called the contract term) and the costs you agree to pay. It will also outline any costs involved in ending the agreement before the end of the contract term. Your obligations under the agreement may include:

  •  Payment of access charges and call costs for the duration of the contract term, even if you lose your handset or it's stolen and not recovered.
  • Payment of a cancellation fee if the agreement is terminated before the end of the contract term. Some network service providers will make you pay out the agreement (the remainder of the call plan costs). Others may add an extra charge on top of this.
  • Connection to a call plan. You need to choose a call plan carefully. Generally, changing to a higher cost call plan is not a problem but changing to a lower cost call plan will usually involve cancelling the existing agreement.
